Pacific Coast Highway Love

June 6, 2013

wearing: Jean Jacket: Levi's (old) | maxi: Soma | wedges: ALDO | necklace: local boutique | bag: Michael Kors (similar here)

Welcome to California! This place is beautiful and one of my favorite spots to visit is the Pacific Coast Highway. There's no better way to drive into Los Angeles then on the PCH. I scouted out my internship location and took a few pictures while on the way. One of my favorite trends this season is the maxi dress. You can't go wrong with it. I opted for a long black maxi because it can easily be paired with fun accessories. I just received my Nikon D5100 in the mail today. I can't wait to start shooting with it! It's my first DSLR..YAH!

Instagram Diary

June 4, 2013

Finals are over and I finished the quarter out with all A's. Can I get an AMEN for that? I have been on the road for four days straight now making my way to California. The drive across country allowed me to observe my native soil and take in all the beautiful sites. Here's my Instagram diary of my road trip from Georgia to California. I'm anticipating starting my internship at BCBG Max Azria next week. I'll keep you posted on all the exciting things that are happening over here.

Pink And Spikes Allover!

May 20, 2013

Hola Fashionistos/as! As the end of spring quarter nears and summer takes over, I wanted to make my last article a special one. If there’s one thing you should know about me by now, it’s that I adore quirky and unique fashion. It’s no fun to color inside the lines and that’s why this week’s Fashionisto was a no brainer.

Pink isn’t just for the girls and hasn’t been for sometime now. This feminine color is popping up throughout men’s street style more and more lately. The perfect combination of pink will have you strutting down the street with the utmost confidence in no time. What you wear can say a lot about you and in this case, the meaning of the color pink is unconditional love and nurturing. It’s the perfect color to wear to such events as weddings, Valentine’s day, Mother’s day or whenever you’re feeling daring enough to rock it.

Start by filling your wardrobe with Ralph Lauren’s classic custom-fit linen sport shirt. This is  an all American piece that you’ll be sure to wear time and time again. The perfect combination for this lovely shirt is a dark denim jean. The Levi’s 511 Radio 5 Jean is the perfect choice for you. This jean will provide you with the perfect amount of versatility and can be paired with just about anything.

Hint: Accessories, accessories and more accessories! That’s what you need to make this a statement outfit. The allover studded loafer from ALDO will have your friends reminiscing for days, get them here. Lastly, to top off your look, you’ll need a pink studded belt to match your shirt and shoes. Tilly’s has the perfect one for you here. Remember, it’s not what you wear Fashionisto’s but how you wear it, so get out there and rock the color pink!

Staying Real

May 16, 2013

t-shirt: Brashy Couture | Skirt: Forever21 | Purse: Kate Spade (similar here) | Heels: Sole Society | Necklace: Old | Sunnies: Nine West (old)

If there's one motto I think everyone should live by, it would be "Stay Real!" Sometime's in life we can get a little too caught up with the unimportant and forget about what really matters. Always stay true to yourself, whether it be in fashion or your everyday life. I love this t-shirt from Brashy Couture, it sums everything up perfectly.

Happy Thursday,
Alicia G.

Suspender Style

May 14, 2013

Let’s face it boys, it’s becoming harder and harder to find interesting style here in the SAV. Where’s everyone hiding? I know the spring quarter countdown has begun but don’t let your wardrobe go crashing down with it. Style can be effortless if you know the tricks of the trade. So fret no more Fashionistos, you no longer have to be bogged down by worrying about what to wear in the morning. Take it from this week’s Fashionisto — style can be a breeze.

Suspenders are back on the map, which means that you can have a lot of fun by adding this eccentric piece to your wardrobe. Urban Outfitters has the perfect striped set for you here. Wondering what to put underneath those super hero suspenders? Try anything from a graphic T-shirt to a collared dress shirt. Add a little flavor to your look with this speckled chambray. Or, if that is too much for you to handle, a simple oxford shirt would do the trick, too.

I love picking out pants for boys because let’s get real, you guys have it so easy! The Levi’s 511 Wasteless Distant Slate Jean is a no brainer. It fits in effortlessly with this look and comes at a pretty affordable price. They’re also made from recycled materials — fashion doesn’t get any better than this ladies and gents. Earth friendly is always the way to go. Footwear is also an important aspect when sporting a quirky look. I was intrigued to find this Fashionisto wearing vintage army shoes. I think these Lacoste oxfords would suit this look just as well.

Hint: This week’s look is easy breezy with just a few simple steps. Suspenders are the way to go. Pair them with a collared shirt and a light washed jean. Shoes are a must have, and an oxford style is the perfect choice. Add a little snazz to your outfit with a cool pair of Ray-Ban Square Key Youngster sunglasses.

Style On,
Alicia Gonzalez

Coral Crazed

May 9, 2013

What I'm wearing: Shirt: Forever21 (similar here) | Shorts: Old | Wedges: Old | Necklace: Local Boutique | Scarf: Lucky Brand (similar here) | Bag: Michael Kors, old

One of my favorite colors this spring is CORAL! I can't get enough of it. It's a beautiful vibrant color that puts me in a happy mood. Good news keeps rolling in over here. I feel so blessed for all the amazing opportunities that are happening lately. I recently scored an amazing internship with Herve Leger!! It doesn't get anymore exciting than that right now in my world. Keep dreaming big and remember no dream is ever out of reach!

A Blast From The Past

May 7, 2013

Greetings Fashionistos/as! I hope everyone is forging ahead and gearing up for finals. The streets of Savannah are filling up with laidback fashion lovers as tourist season arrives. I love sitting in Forsyth park watching all of the different styles pass me by. This week’s Fashionisto is a blast from the past. I couldn’t help but feel as if I was being sucked back into the Boy George era.

This Fashionisto’s look is fun and easy going, perfect for those summer days when listening to great music is your only plan for the day. When craving a vintage look, ASOS is the way to go. You’ll need this Jack & Jones hat to start this outfit off right. One of my favorite things when it comes to wearing vintage styled clothing is the endless selections available to you. Sometimes you can revive an old piece of clothing to fit just what you are looking for. Or if you’re having a hard time reviving a piece to suit your taste, this ’80s inspired button-down will do the trick too.

Skinny jeans for men is a growing trend and if you look back to the ’80s, boys’ jeans were getting tighter and tighter as the time passed. Fashion a cycle, after all, and that’s why this look will have you singing the lyrics to “Karma Chameleon” in no time. For that perfect ’80s vibe, check out the ASOS skinny black jeans here. To complete this look, slip on a pair of black leather boots.

Hint: When looking to the past for inspiration, remember that fashion is always building off of past styles. Add a little spice to the ’80s, not that it needs much more, and pair a vintage hat with a black top, pants and boots. To add a little something extra to the outfit, jewelry is the way to go. Clip this collar pin onto your shirt and the ’80s will be calling you home in no time.

Internship Style

April 30, 2013

Greetings Fashoinistos/as! As summer slowly creeps up on us, so does internship season. If you haven’t started applying for every internship under the sun, then now is the time. First things first though, you’ll want to make a great impression. Dressing for interviews can be tricky if you aren’t aware of all the rules. This week’s Fashoinisto teaches just how to stay on track to land that perfect internship position.

When dressing for an interview, you never want to go overboard. Fashion is an amazing outlet but should be used carefully when trying to make a professional statement. For you boys out there trying to climb up the social ladder, try placing a fitted v-neck sweater over a button down shirt. If you’re a fan of color, it’s okay to introduce it into one area of your outfit but don’t go crazy with it. Craving Color? Tie up this teal beauty from Express.

Business men from all over are becoming more and more fashion savvy these days. Fall into their footsteps with a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo penny loafers. Shine them up bright and your first impression is on it’s way to a success. Lastly, suit pants come in a wide variety of sizes and styles. I’m finding the slimmer fit pants very flattering Fashionisto’s and also a great statement maker. You’ll definitely want to try the Photographer Suit Pant by Express here.

hint: Make a lasting impression this week and dress yourself up for success. Not only will you exude confidence in your new look but you’ll also be giving your potential employer one more reason to want to hire you. Pair a light knit sweater over a button down shirt and tie. Slip on a slim fitting pant with a shiny pair of penny loafers. To take your internship style to the next level, place your precious resume in a briefcase. Burberry has the perfect one for you here. Good luck Fashionisto’s and remember, your first impression, is always your last one.

Style On,
Alicia Gonzalez
